Artist's Comments

So, I felt like doing a quicky tutorial. This was spurred by a large amount of caffeine and plenty of stress... which is a powerful force apparently.

I was reminded that many people get confused while painting rock surfaces, and while I would hardly say that I know the best way to do them, I can at least offer my personal method and the thought process behind said method.

Included are large screen captures of the painting process and the brushes used. As far as programs go, this was Photoshop 7, and done in just a little under 40 minutes.... which in itself may have been lengthy considering I'm watching TV at the same time. So this is hardly a time consuming process.

I also want to apologize for not refining the size of the font in comparison to the screen captures and the such. Many of you will need to scroll to see everything... but it was important of me to not leave anything out. Besides.... I was getting lazy.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Hopefully this helps at least somebody out there :)

EDIT: And I know I don't have to say this, but there's always somebody who needs to hear it...... FULL SIZE!

Awesome tutorial :)

Sweet, thank you. i will deff. use this in the near future as im getting braver and BG's seem to be becoming inevitable, lol.

I'm glad to hear that it'll be useful in some way :)

Definitely practice those BG's, they'll be hard and aggravating for awhile, but they help a picture by leaps and bounds .

Hello
Thank's for the tutorial. A bit sad the brushes you have would be there too or was on a link or something (me being silly now) XP

Always saying: (It can't be better than this)
:iconyrindale:
I don't often hand out brushes because I feel that they should be designed for the artist. I developed mine based on my habits and methods and as such I do things that others may not, and they may need something that I do not.

I would gladly explain the process to making them though, it's truly quite easy.

Excellent, Chris. I am bookmarking this one.

Brushes - i'd LOVE to see a tutorial on how you make yours, seeing as you are gonna be stingy with yours. *wink*

*muah*
:iconyrindale:
I'll gladly make one on the brushes.... I loooove making brushes. In fact, if you go to my lj profile, I watch a community named Texture - and I swear to god I just made 20+ brushes from the various photos there. It's addictive.

What version of Photoshop does the beautiful Saskya use?
